MindSwitch Mondays Issue #3: Moon Days Become Goal Setting Days
Hello my friends!
So glad it's Monday again! I get to check in with you.
Monday is the second day of the week. Some people don't feel comfortable with Mondays, or have not yet found a way to get organized to kick start their week. I want to start sharing with you my latest findings on productivity, education, and anything that will help you start your week with the “right foot.”
1 Interesting Fact About Mondays:
The Babylonians were the first authors of our modern week, naming their days after the planets. But the Anglo-Saxons took over and named Tuesday to Friday after their gods. Monday was kept the same. The name Monday comes from the word "mondandaeg" which translates to "the moon's day".
Some believe Mondays are shadowy days. A day where you are managing mood, emotions, and intuitions.
I believe Monday is a day of opportunity. It is the day that, if you set your goals and the appropriate routines, you have the most time ahead to work on them.
2 Interesting Finds to Kick Start your week!
W. H. Auden thought that
“Routine, in an intelligent man, is a sign of ambition.”
Auden believed that if you want passion to flourish, you have to discipline time; to create routines that generate inspiration, creativity, and drive. Routines are a way to discipline time. He proposed deciding what and when to do it, and repeat it every day.
To be productive, we need to focus. Warren Buffet shares a 3-step process to help his employees determine their priorities and actions.
Step 1 write down your top 25 career goals.
Step 2 review the list and circle your top 5.
Step 3: at this point, you have two lists, the top 5 goals, and the 20 other goals list. Start working on the top 5 goals immediately and don't lose focus by working not even a minute on the “Avoid-At-All-Cost” list.

3 Actionable Steps:
Cross that bridge into the week by getting a good night's sleep Sunday night. Mondays run smoother if you are well-rested.
Be passionate, but be disciplined. Have a disciplined passion? Yes! Harness your passion through routines that generate inspiration, creativity, and drive. If you like running, painting, or fishing, set a routine for it.
Sit down to write your 25 goal list to know your “Avoid-At-All-Cost” list and your Top 5 goals. This will help focus your time on your real priorities. Also, by eliminating other activities you were doing to accomplish goals in your “Avoid-At-All-Cost” list, you will have more time available for the top 5 goals.
This is all for this week. Thanks for reading!
I wish you all a focused, productive, and passionate week!
Stay safe, stay healthy!
